Relationships
Individual therapy provides an opportunity to examine those past experiences and how they affect the present. We may look at attachment styles as part of this work. Attachment styles are the ways we learned to get our needs met early on in life, and they’re baked in at a nervous system level. These patterns show up in adult relationships, and can sometimes result in having the same painful experiences over and over.
We each come into relationships with our own unique history. Our past experiences shape the lenses through which we see and relate to each other.
In therapy, we can work together to shift the patterns that are no longer helpful, making space for new experiences: deeper friendships, supportive romantic partnerships, and genuine secure connections.
